Avigrain Budgie Mix Blue is based on a blend made famous by one of Australias budgie legends, Mr Fred Cardona. Freds blend was 50% canary, 25% White French and the rest a mixture of jap millet, panorama, panicum, red panicum and hulled oats and this remains the mix for Budgie Blue. This was the standard blend for all top breeders in the 80s and 90s. The critical component in Budgie Blue is canary seed, which is higher in protein and lower in carbohydrates than millet, resulting in a balanced and less fattening diet.
