Limpia cat litter changes color when it detects certain acidity or alkalinity levels in your cat’s urine. If you notice the color is outside the normal range, monitor the litter for the next 48 hours. If the abnormal colors persist or your cat exhibits any signs of distress, you should consult your cat’s vet.

What do the colors mean?

• Orange – High Acidity
  This may indicate metabolic acidosis or kidney tubular acidosis. Calcium oxalate crystals may also be present. While acidic urine does not necessarily mean these crystals are present, it creates an ideal environment for them to form.
• Yellow/Olive – Within the Typical Range
  
• Dark Green/Blue – High Alkalinity
  This may indicate urinary tract infections. Highly alkaline urine can increase the risk of struvite crystal or stone formation.
